Beth successfully completed her final year as an M.Arch Architecture student at the Bartlett, UCL in 2018, after completing her studies as a BA(Hons) Architecture student at the University of Brighton in 2014, where she received a First Class Degree with Honours. She is currently undertaking the Professional Practice in Architecture Postgraduate Diploma at the University of Westminster, to progress into the role of Architect.
Beth has worked in practices ranging from micro to large in Nottingham and London, working on projects across residential, public, commercial, and ecclisiastical sectors. Beth has gained experience across all RIBA work-stages, and her portfolio demonstrates an aptitude for materiality and craftsmanship. These subjects were explored continuously throughout her studies, and in practice by working on bespoke and highly crafted projects. This allowed her to develop an expertise in construction detailing and specification. Prior to joining Jo Cowen, Beth worked at Office S&M during which time they received the Young Architect of the Year Award and were recognised as one of the new AJ 40 under 40.
In addition to her professional duties, Beth solely organised and ran outdoor cinema events in Nottingham during her Part One year out, raising money for the local architect’s society, and joined the Bartlett Summer School programme as a tutor for proto-typing and making after completing her Part Two Studies. In her spare time Beth enjoys dress- and pattern-making, and lives on London’s waterways in a narrowboat which she is refurbishing with her partner and dog.
