Chris Wilkinson

Director

As a Director of Jo Cowen Architects, Chris has been responsible for the design and delivery of much of the practice’s work. Early in his career, Chris worked on a number of award winning significant cultural projects and has since been at the forefront of the conceptual progression of modern housing design, from singular bespoke private homes through to multi-unit, mixed use and master-planned schemes.

Chris undertakes a lead role in the concept and technical development of all major projects and has in recent years developed a key knowledge of Modern Methods of Construction, working directly with international and UK based modular manufacturers.

He maintains a close relationship with clients and consultants throughout the design process and takes pride in upholding key project concepts from start to finish. He is constantly looking for new and alternative perspectives on potential development sites, with a focus on providing efficient and commercially viable proposals that achieve the high design standards of the practice.

His approach closely considers both the appearance and performance of buildings, adopting sustainable design strategies and low carbon technologies.

Chris has led the concept design and development with Berkeley Homes and TfL on a 500 residential and commercial-use “over-station” development, a 450 unit mixed use development with Apache Capital in Kingston, the extensive development of a single family housing typologies for over 5,000+ modular houses across multiple sites for Present Made and many other design strategies for multiple developer clients.

Chris is originally from the north-east of England, studied at the University of Newcastle with post-graduate and professional qualifications from University College London (UCL). Chris holds both RIBA and ARB accreditations.
