Prior to joining the Jo Cowen Architects James worked for PDP London and a series of award winning companies specialising in schemes ranging from private houses to large scale high-end developments in the UK and abroad. He has worked with clients who have included high net-worth individuals, hotel groups, large developers and key stakeholders. Having completed his bachelor of arts degree with honors at Newcastle University, he spent a year in New Zealand and joined Peddle Thorp Architects in Auckland, working on a large new build apartment block within the city. James went on to do his Part II at the Architectural Association and Part III professional qualifications at the University of Westminster.
As well as a wealth of design acumen, technical knowledge and on-site experience, he has also been actively involved in many aspects of practice management, providing constructive support for both project teams and staff members. With a broad experience in interiors, furniture and cabinetry design, he has provided invaluable advice for both clients and design teams. His strengths include strong project management, design and problem-solving skills and with a critical eye for detail has produced exceptional, well thought out schemes, that have often far exceeded expectations. James has also been involved in a number of listed building schemes, from planning stages through to completion, in addition working on new building developments in sensitive and challenging locations.
